Committed to building Canadian content and knowledge in the UK
The mission of the Foundation for Canadian Studies (FCS) is to broaden perspectives, to encourage new thinking and collaboration on major issues and problems and to build stronger links between Canada and the United Kingdom.
The FCS in the United Kingdom exists to support and foster here a greater understanding of Canada and the contributions made by Canadians to the international community. We believe that knowledge of Canada and its contributions should be encouraged in all areas but especially those where there are significant Canadian interests and where Canada and Canadians have played a key role.
The Foundation achieves this objective by focusing on key areas of shared interest between Canadians and the British through targeted academic support. We support teaching, research and publishing, and we promote academic links and student exchanges between Canadian and British universities. Our support is demonstrated through grants, travel awards and the funding of academic posts and scholarships at British universities.
In addition, the Foundation exists to create partnerships linking the academic and non-academic worlds to foster the understanding of Canadian content and contribution across a wide range of subjects.
We seek fundraising to encourage these partnerships in a wide range of areas, such as Business and Finance, Natural Resources, Energy and Environment, Arctic and Polar Studies, Migration and Multiculturalism, Language and Language Policy, Social Policy, Politics and Governance, Peace Studies, History, Cultural Studies, Literature and the Arts.
